Théâtre Bouches Décousues contributes to the development
of a dramaturgy for children, reaching out to a wider audience. We are well
known for saying loud and clear that children are not only tomorrow's audience,
they are a worthwhile audience today. Much can be said about relations between
children and adults and this important question is the heart of our work.
Fundamentally, we believe that everything can be said to children. All of
our creations are the result of a long process. We pursue our goals through
four principal activities: Artistic research - Creation - Diffusion - Workshops.
"Since 1986, there always is this desire to contribute
to the development of a dramaturgy for young audiences, to be more and more
present in our community and to meet new audiences, new creators, unknown
territories. Miners ! That is what we are ! Drillers ! Light searchers ! With
our frontal lamps, equipped of pencils, dreams and words, we explore surfaces
and depths and we defend theatre for the youth for what it is: a major art
for young miners."

The first show created by the company inspired its name: Bouches Décousues.
This name also symbolises the freedom Jasmine Dubé, author, cofounder and
artistic director of Théâtre Bouches Décousues, gave herself "to say, unstitch
secrets and let go the words regardless of taboos".
Théâtre Bouches Décousues is a non-profit organisation and its activities
are funded, in part, by:
Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, The Canada Council for the Arts,
Conseil des arts de Montréal
